About

This contemporarily styled and dynamic necklace is called 'De la muerte a la vida' – 'from death to life' and will certainly mean different things to different people and could certainly prove a talking point too! The necklace is a thin silver wire that sits at the base of the neck with two beautifully textured hollow circles suspended from it and these are linked by a silver bar. Each circle contains a vibrant green stone. The necklace has been beautifully designed and made by Tania.

About Tania Francisca

About Tania Francisca

The elegant woman walked into the room, smartly dressed in classic French navy, but eyes were drawn not to her perfectly tailored suit, but the contemporarily styled necklace around her neck. An excited whisper began to circulate... the necklace had been made by Tania Francisca in Cuenca, Ecuador. Tania has been running her highly successful jewellery workshop since 1999 and more often than not, she can be found at work, painstakingly encasing a beautifully coloured semi-precious stone in filigree silverwork before fixing it on a stylish silver chain or leather thong. Her work is simply stunning and although it is contemporarily styled it is also classically timeless in its appeal. Tania has always loved art and creating jewellery so it was a natural progression for her to go to university when she finished school and she graduated from the University de Azuay in her hometown of Cuenca. She continued her studies in Rome where she focused on learning artistic techniques using metal. She is always thinking of new designs and is inspired by the beauty of nature and the rich culture and history of her home country. Tania feels that her beautiful necklaces carry the important message that time-honoured traditional skills and designs cannot be replaced by mechanisation and that it is important that the techniques that have been handed down through generations are preserved in her work and that of other artisans in Ecuador.
