This galleon, somewhat larger than the galleon of Dubrovnik, was a war-ship from the end of 16th and beginning of 17th century. Although there were many elements of a carrack in her, she was more comfortable to manoeuvre, and the construction had been improved too. She was the forerunner to liner ships which marked the following century. Spanish galleon was exploited for trade and transportation, but mostly as a very efficient war-ship in numerous Spanish battles, A number of seamen from Dubrovnik rendered excellent services on Spanish galleons throughout 16th and 17th century in the Spanish navy, not only as first-class masters and officers but also as famous admirals and members of Spanish knighthood (families Ohmu?evi?i and Olist-Tasov?i?i of Slano, Mažibradi?i of Dubrovnik). The knowledge and skill of Dubrovnik seamen were particularly appreciated and richly awarded by the Spanish kings (Philip II and Philip V).
